About

I hope you will enjoy visiting my site. I like to write, but I’m not the greatest at technology. I’m trying to learn, though.

I have been homeschooling for nine years. My oldest recently went off to a private high school, but I’m still homeschooling my two younger kids. I remember back when I was first homeschooling and I believed those off-handed remarks about how homeschooling only takes about 2 hours a day. Oh, to be so naive again! I also thought that once they could read and write for themselves, the parent’s role practically vanished. Bwahahaha! That’s hilarious! On the contrary, I find homeschooling middle-school-age children about as exhausting (and rewarding) as breastfeeding a newborn, except there isn’t any of this middle-of-the-night nonsense.  I absolutely love homeschooling my children, but let’s just call a spade a spade: it is not easy and it is not fast!

Because I am now considered a homeschooling “veteran” (how can that be, when I am so very young?), I have homeschooled through many challenging phases. I have dictated spelling lists while trying to convince a toddler that the potty is not the Gateway to Hell.  I have worked in my husband’s business part-time since before my kids were born, which means I have also homeschooled many times with a student to the left of me and Quickbooks Pro to the right. I have even homeschooled on the couch, while confined to bedrest. So, I’ve done busy; I’ve got my Master’s Degree in multi-tasking.

While my perspective comes from that of a homeschooling mother, I hope to resonate with busy mothers of other stripes as well. We’re all in the same thick soup, friends.
